Underground Rainwater Collection Systems

Underground rainwater collection systems are frequently used to store rainwater during the rainy seasons for use during the dry seasons. There are a number of things that you should take into consideration when designing and installing an underground rainwater storage tank. First of all, you should make sure that your storage tank does not have any leakages. The tanks should be durable and watertight to prevent leakages. If underground storage tanks are not properly plastered and installed, they can collapse.

Secondly, an underground storage tank must have a tight fitting cover to prevent evaporation and mosquito breeding. A tight fitting cover is also needed to prevent insects, birds, rodents or other small animals from entering the tank and contaminating the rainwater.

Using an underground rainwater storage tank provides a number of advantages. Storing rainwater in storage tanks reduces erosion and flooding. Home and industrial users are provided with a backup water supply that comes in handy when there is a failure or interruption with the public water systems. (more...)
